“Don’t try to make a good painting out of a bad picture,” was the advice one of my mentors gave me since I began drawing and painting almost 20 years ago.

As I travel around the Connecticut River Valley, camera in hand, I look for good pictures of landscapes. I also find my subjects in everyday things – cheese and wine, a puddle, and cups and spoons.

Good pictures can be found everywhere. Subjects can range from landscapes to items on a tabletop. I look for color, light and composition. My paintings faithfully represent reality.
